The WestergasTerras is our favorite hangout in Amsterdam. It’s only a few blocks away from our office, so it happens quite often that we end up here after work instead of going home:) On a summer day we love to chill on a fatboy with a glass of wine on the large terrace. And in winter we switch the terrace for the restaurant, which then turnes into a cozy living room with twinkling lights and a cosy fireplace.
Last week I was invited to try some dishes from the new winter menu together with (food) bloggers Dishtales, Cravings in Amsterdam, Polabur and Waar Amsterdam Eet. And of course I said yes to this invitation:)
What to expect at WestergasTerras?
If you’re looking for a hipster interieur you’re at the wrong place. It’s raw and industrially but without being chilly. It’s the kind of place where everyone feels at home. Whether you’re in your Sunday sweatpants, hungover and in need of a ‘recovery’ wine or dressed up waiting for your date. It’s all fine at the WestergasTerras and that vibe is exactly what I like about this place.
What to order?
So we got to taste the new winter menu which starts on 23 December. We kick-of with scallops in Oriental marinade and a millefeuille of grilled vegetables. Oh my god, absolutely delicious! After that we were treated on catfish fillet with marinated vegetables and a pumpkin tajine. Yummy!
To spoil us even more we were served a plate full of (gluten-free) desserts by SLA (Sweet Love Addiction) Absolutely irresistible, both the looks and taste. I don’t even try to resist these guilty pleasures. Oh well, I will run an extra 15 minutes tomorrow;)
WestergasTerras Roast Of
Outside on the terrace there is another culinary surprise waiting for us on the grill. Fresh roasted duck! So for anyone who’s missing the hot summer night bbq’s, you can still do it! Starting January every Thursday it’s Roast Of evening at the WestergasTerras. With a different type of meat every week. Bring on those winter vibes with a glass of glühwein.
What’s special about this place?
It is not just a place where you can eat and drink, they also organise and host a variety of events for young and old. After a night of dining you can go clubbing in the WesterUnie to clubbing and last summer every Thursday the terrace was transformed into a Cuban salsa dance party.
Where to find WestergasTerras?
In one of the nicest parks in Amsterdam; the Westerpark. Right in front of the imposing Gashouder where many of us have been dancing until sunrise:)
