It is always nice when there is a new restaurant round the corner. De Pasta Kantine set up shop in Zeeheldenkwartier in The Hague last month. What is on the menu? Pasta, of course. From now on I will go to De Pasta Kantine for the best fresh pastas and the most glorious tiramisu! Join me and find out what it is like to go for a meal at De Pasta Kantine.
What to expect?
I enter De Pasta Kantine on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant is buzzing with guests. I am asked to wait for a while and have a seat on the leather sofa in the corner. I relax with a glass of white wine and look around. The interior design is industrial but warm. It feels homey and a little hip. The colours are fashionable and immediately make me feel like redecorating my walls at home.
What to order?
How can I define the concept? Nothing flashy, just simple. Back to basics. No nonsense and delicious food. Of course you will find pastas on the menu (gluten free or whole-meal if you like) but there are salads too. You can choose between normal or small portions. They also offer a combination of salad and pasta. Fresh and tasty. You are treated to excellent service. They will not try your and the children’s patience. You order and within 15 minutes you will be served. Of course you and your partner can chat and chill over the meal if you like. Whenever I eat out I order something that I never cook at home. I go for spaghetti alla carbonara and my friend orders rigatoni con manzo. In no time the two well filled plates are served. And it is absolutely delicious. For dessert we had tiramisu? Belissima! Your dinner and the bottle of wine are only €25. Good value for money!
